History

Kalubai Temple is one of the most popular temples in Pune, India. The temple is located on the top of a hill in the village of Kalubai. The temple was built in the 18th century by the Maratha ruler Shivaji Maharaj.

The temple is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kalubai. The goddess is also known as Kanakadurga, Durga Mata and Mahalakshmi. She is considered to be the incarnation of Goddess Parvati.

The temple has a unique architecture and it is one of the few temples in India which is built in the Maratha style of architecture. The main shrine of the temple is surrounded by 12 smaller shrines. These shrines are dedicated to the 12 yearly cycle of festivals called 'Pancharatras'.
